Welcome to this
norwegian netshop for Big Clocks and Maritime Brass and Chrome in
bulleye style. As
you have already noticed I here present the products of world
leading manufacturers like german Hermle
and american Howard
Miller. Hermle's
clock mechanisms sit in most clock brands all around the globe.
Howard Miller is the worlds leading manufacturer of impressive
Grandfather Clocks. Howard Miller also is the owner of german
Kieninger. You may click into these manufacturers own websites
from our netshops home page.
Pricing. All
prices on the shop pages are in NOK (the norwegian currency) and
the norwegian VAT of 25% (bottom-up) is included. This means that
you can subtract 1/5 of the amount due to export, i.e. multiply
by 0.8. As of April
18th, 2010 you
may multiply netshop prices with following factors to arrive at
named currency:
EUR
– 0.126 , SEK – 1.224 , DKK – 0.940 , GBP -
0.111. check the actual exchange rate.
On
entry to your own country, you must however be prepared for
paying your own county's VAT ! An invoice will be attached to
your parcel for the customs of your country. Also freight cost
shall be exempted from norwegian VAT, a fact that you are asked
to remind us about!
Buying from outside
Norway for reexport. If
you already have fallen for the temptation to order and made your
payment through PayPal, just relax! What you then eventually pay
too much, we will refund to you through PayPal immediately. -
When you first make a request for a product or several products,
we will set up a quote for you as one article under the
«Oversikt» part of the left hand side menu under the
Exports article group. When you pick up that article and go
through the shopping process, you should pay the exact amount
due. Important is also this first contact due to the fact that we
keep only a limited selection in Stock, see below.
Articles in Stock. - The
netshops adminstration and other routines have led to a choice of
setting up a code on those articles we have in Stock. This code
is ALGR.
In
the search field («Søk») write ALGR (capital
letters!) and you will get a listing of all 130+ articles we have
in stock as of october 29th,
2009. Write - ALGR Hermle – and you will get Hermle clocks
that we have in stock. If an article is not in stock, we will
give you a response with delivery schedule. A response will
normally be given the same day. We have access to manufacturers
stock and if empty, the production time of new series.
Maritime Clocks and
Instruments. - This
shop started out with Tidal Clocks, as the owner for a short time
cooperated with a norwegian «inventor» of a tidal
clock Tidevakt(TM). As I found out that the first version of this
was simply based on the Hermle 35050-002100 and that there most
likely exist hundreds of tidal clock designs, this cooperation
ended. They are all based on the tidal component M2 = 12 hours,
25 minutes and 14.16... seconds. You will have high water when
your longitude is towards the moon and away from it. The fact
that 2*M2 is 24 hours, 50 minutes etc. is a confirmation that the
moon travels around the globe in the same rotational direction as
its own rotation, from west towards east!
Tidal
clocks are no accurate instruments. M2 is an average and the real
high and low waters are somewhat differently spaced in time than
the clocks are showing. The orbit of the moon is elliptical and
it therefore travels fastest when it is closest to the earth and
slowest when it is on the opposite, farthest side. Two times per
rotation it shows the precise culmination of high water and in
between it can show +/- 40+ minutes. This clock is useful if your
boat is moored in a place where it has no water under its keel on
low water, when you shall out fishing on flowing tide a.s.o. Its
advantage is that it shows the tides with the same accuracy or
inaccuracy(!) after a year and in the long run. I.e. You do not
need to find tables or log in to the internet.
Freight cost and
Christmas gifts -
If your clock of choice is in stock at our site, we will send it
the same or next day as your order arrives. As of Oct. 29th
we
send factory orders to Hermle in the Black Forest Region once
every second week and to Howard Miller in Michigan, USA once a
month. Please contact us to find out if your clock is in stock
here or at the factory or when it will be produced again. The
norwegian mail takes NOK 250.- + NOK 12.- per kilo for parcels to
countries within Europe except the Faeroe Islands and Greenland
which together with the rest of the world will cost an additional
72.- per kilo instead of 12.- ! Remember to give beautiful brass
or chrome to he who loves his boat, see Hanseatic Instruments,
Maximum Inc. And Schatz1881 and Hermle Maritim ! And a Floor,
Mantel or Wall Clock to your mother and/or father !!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year ! -
